Preparing for Peace Work

Have you longed to make a difference in this world for peace, but not sure how to start?  Do you have inner conflicts you want to work out before you consider yourself a peacemaker?  Are you in a state of frustration or despair about the wars that rage in our world and not sure where to turn?  Are you blaming someone for the mess that you see in our nation?

Objective:  The focus of this class is to provide a NonViolent Communication forum based on the work of Dr. Marshall Rosenburg  where we can explore what is means to live in peace and to be peace and to make a difference in our world.

Class Format:  This will be a participatory class setting where participants have a choice about the relevancy of the material being presented and can choose to set up an alternative educational approach to satisfy their need for learning.  In this class, we will model a world of peace where everyone matters.

Empathy Circle

Have you noticed how your intention when you speak with someone sets the energy of the conversation?  Have you ever had someone listen to you so deeply that they seemed to be able to touch what is alive for you and bring it into the light? Have you ever wanted to use your intuitive powers and positive energy more in your daily interactions with others?

In this class, we define empathy as a quality of connection wherein we reach to touch what is vibrant in someone’s heart at the present moment, sensing the life force moving through them.

Empathy is energy rather than a particular form of speech

It is very rare in our society that we get an opportunity to really be heard and understood at the level that we will explore in this setting.

Objective:  The focus of this class is to develop a quality of connection where we open our hearts to each other, deepening our capacity to bring presence to one another and to fulfill our need for connection with each other.

Class Format:  The first portion of the class is devoted to setting the groundwork and guidelines for giving and receiving empathy.  The bulk of the class time is spent offering empathy to one or more participants.  The remainder of the class time will be reserved to get feedback from the participants about what transpired, as far as whether their needs were met or not.
